How to get rid of Overthinking?

The overthinking can be defined as the mental confusion. It is a network of endless thoughts. The negative thoughts are always futile. You seem to create the problems that weren’t even there. Where there is a will there is a way. So there must be something you can do to get rid of overthinking. Let’s understand the root cause of such a phenomenon which makes you unproductive without your will and permission.

We hardly overthink our present. It is the past and future we tend to give much priority rather than focusing on the present. If you are working on a project which requires you to think a lot, you are overthinking for your self-interest. But it becomes harmful when you lose control of your mind.

The past is a period of time which we can’t get back. But a sense of regret for having done something you shouldn’t have might be painful. If there is something you can do to compensate then what are you waiting for. For example, you argued angrily with somebody and ended up hurting the person. Later you realize you didn’t need to do what you did. Now, your ego may tell you that you don’t need to apologize as well. If you can’t forget this matter the first step is to forgive the concerned person. Nobody becomes small by saying sorry. And immediately learn from this situation so that in future you will take care of your behavior. So what you can do is learn from the past and try not to repeat the same mistake.

The future is a place you haven’t yet landed in. We tend to either underestimate or overestimate the future. You need to correctly estimate the future by keeping working on the tasks you can do to make your future brighter. When we act on the basis of reality rather than imagination we feel happy. Please remember that the fear is imaginary. The simple way out there is to acknowledge the problems and start finding the solutions. Once you know the problem can be solved start taking actions. And if it can’t be solved start working on your thinking.

There are a lot of things you can do to get rid of overthinking. Whenever the overthinking starts you can go for a walk in the garden, cook something you like to eat, call your best friend, go to a movie, listen to music. It will be better if you write down your thoughts so that your thinking comes back in the order. Your thinking must be under control. Maybe there is something you are holding back for a long time that it is time you share it with somebody who genuinely listens to you. You can basically do anything you like to enjoy yourself.
